Confidentiality
Ohio’s Confidentiality law prohibits public officials or employees from using or disclosing confidential information acquired through public service without proper authorization.
“Confidential information” is any information that is protected by law or has been clearly designated as confidential.
This restriction applies during public service and continues after leaving public employment.
As long as the information remains legally confidential, it cannot be used or disclosed.
